DNS Lookup

A DNS lookup retrieves records that help route domain names to websites, email systems, and other internet services. This page is an informational guide and does not currently perform DNS queries.

Common DNS record types

An A record maps a name to an IPv4 address, while an AAAA record maps it to IPv6. A CNAME record points one name to another. MX records identify mail servers, and TXT records hold text used for purposes such as domain verification and email security.

Why can DNS results differ?

DNS providers, cached records, propagation time, and the resolver being queried can affect what appears in a lookup. When changing DNS settings, allow time for cached information to expire and confirm records with the domain's DNS administrator.
